While the show was full of illustrious highs, I couldn't help but feel that there was something lacking. I went on Monday night and got much more than I expected - almost three hours long! They ripped through their hits like Long Road, and Yellow Ledbetter, all under the roof of the cavernous home of the Chicago Bulls. Pearl Jam was the final band that performed at the with four shows that took place on October 27—28 and October 30—31. We're a tad sad we're missing tonight since we bet it'll feature even deeper cuts and a wilder set list, since last night Vedder said they won't be coming back through here for quite a while.
For a band to be as successful as Pearl Jam is an ego check is a necessary, and that is exactly what they have done for their entire career. Much like the Grateful Dead, Pearl Jam play to their core fans which is beyond admirable and I walk away wanting to do a deeper dive into their catalog. After twenty years it is very evident that the band are very close friends and enjoy performing together. After the song finished the fans chanted Booooom in the same fashion as Boston Red Sox fans cheer for Kevin Youkilis. Their music is so well suited for an outdoor event, not to mention the much larger size would have allowed for more fans to attend, and to be sold.
The band played at the on May 1, 2010. It feels like it's been a long time coming. Pearl Jam does the latter. You could tell that the band is very humbled by Chicago and it's fans. It's with moments like that that Pearl Jam makes an arena full of people feel like a group in an intimate venue. They then played twelve dates in America in the same month and completed a second European leg in July 2010. On a side note, Eddie Vetter is from the Chicago area, so it was fitting to hear his stories throughout the evening.

He took the stage in shorts, a move not a lot of rockstars could get away with and still look like a rockstar, but if anyone can pull it off, it's Eddie Vedder. The Austin City Limits appearance took place amidst the fourteen-date North American leg of the tour. Chicago was one of only four cities to get multiple shows on their current tour. That being said, I'd like to see them branch out, try to weave themes, arcs and structures into a cohesive set list that would still allow for golden nuggets to be aired nightly. For over two hours, the band ripped through a muscular twenty-seven song set that left the heavy-in-attendance Ten Club Pearl Jam's fan club crowd in pure ecstasy.
In August 2009, Pearl Jam headlined the , which was preceded by five shows in Europe and three in North America. Alpine Valley and Pearl Jam could not work out a deal, and the show went on at the United Center. Vedder was very appreciative as he spoke of Chicago as the band has had some very memorable shows including gigs at Solider Field and The Chicago Stadium. Vedder spoke of listening to Quadrophenia while waiting for the train to take him home to Evanston as a youth. This time they brought their no-holds barred show indoors to the United Center although it appears the band was attempting to have these shows at Alpine Valley.
